Stepping Out was founded in July 2024 by a Mum and son duo.  The idea behind Stepping Out was to offer face to face support in the local community for young adults (16 to 25yrs) to offer the service users a safe space to be themselves, ask questions and get support.

By September 2024, Stepping out became an official Constitued group with a committee board and has over time grown from a weekly group for 16 to 25yr olds to holding monthly workshops and a monthly Culture club too for 16yrs and above.  

In June 2025 Stepping out is organising a Pride event in Caithness.  The first of its kind in the area

Within our first year, we were also finalists in the Proud Scotland Awards.

In 2026, after speaking to local High School Children, we created a teen group once a month, where children can get information, be signposted for support and socialise with likeminded people.

Stepping Out prides itself on providing a safe space and building the confidence and resilience of its users.  Our committee ensure our members are at the heart of everything we do.
